Welcome Spring!!
The Borelians wrap up
their 2008-2009 theatre season with a story you won’t
want to miss – even if you’ve never taken in live
theatre before. In Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun, Canada’s
most popular playwright, Norm Foster, does what he does best
- tickles the funnybone and pulls at the heartstrings –
all at the same time.
Robert is sociable, has a pretty good job, and
loves his mother. Holly is luckless, penniless and jobless,
and willing to do just about anything to make ends meet. Simon,
the professor, confuses everyone when his perfect command
of the English language seems to convey quite the opposite
of what he means, and Claire reminds us all of the wonders
of a mother’s love. Dr. Andrews tries her best to help
others get a realistic grip on some of the challenges life
throws at them. Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun is a heart-warming
story which, as in real life, is a constant tug-of-war between
humour and tragedy, as a pregnant young woman and a disabled
man meet at a bus stop, begin a friendship, and find their
lives, and the lives of others around them, are changed forever.
Robert is played by well-known Port Perry actor,
David Lepp; and Claire is played by equally well-known Jackie
Del Greco. Simon is played by one of Port Perry’s favourite
actors, Michael Serres, while new-comer Tavia Pereira travels
all the way to Port Perry from Whitby to take on the role
of Holly. Also new to the Port Perry stage is Scugog Island
resident, Josette Blais-Jol, who plays the part of Dr. Andrews.
Producer and award-winning Director Vivian Lee is thrilled
with her cast and has enjoyed every minute of rehearsal time.
Award-winning set designer Andrew Oxenham returns to create
the set, along with award-winning set decorator and props
creator extraordinaire, Jennifer Hardie, who hails all the
from Eldon Station.
